This is from elias.com posted on ESPN today:
Kobe Bryant scored 53 points in the Lakers' overtime loss to the Rockets and finished the month of March with a scoring average of 40.4 points per game. Bryant is the only player in the last 40 years to average 40 points per game for an entire month (minimum: 5 games) -- and he has done it four times: 40.6 in February 2003, 43.4 in January 2006, and 41.6 in April 2006.
For those of you who need to know, the NBA record for highest scoring average in a calendar month (minimum: 5 games) belongs to, who else, Wilt Chamberlain. Wilt averaged 53.2 points per game in March 1962 (266 points in 5 games).
Kobe has scored 50 or more points 19 times in his career, third-most in NBA history, behind Wilt (118) and Michael (31).

I just saw the highlights from that Lakers/Rockets game...holy crap...you're right, Kobe is freaking amazing. He singlehandedly brought his team back to force overtime with some clutch 3-pointers. Infreakingcredible. He's still a dirty player and isn't good enough to singlehandedly win them a championship, though.
you said it, "behind Michael". Where is the argument? i still like Mike. oh and about class, while michael does have his faults, at least he never got caught cheating with a 19 year old and accused of rape. Kobe is closer to Tyson in my opinion than Jordan, as far as class. of course, you have to remember that my opinion carries much less weight as i know almost nothing when it comes to sports, especially basketball. good topic though.
I agree with Kerr. Kobe is better physically, but I want to see him lead a team and literally scare players into having bad games like Jordan did. In 1996-97, the other team thought they were going to lose before they stepped on the floor against the Bulls. And, no one felt like they were stopping Michael, they just felt like he chose to not kill them (if he didn't that night).
